7050 Aluminum Sheet Advantages

Packaging of Aluminum Sheet

7050 Aluminum Sheet Application
The 7050 aluminum sheet is primarily designed for the aerospace industry, but can also be used in other applications that require high-strength aluminum.
Main Application
Structures of aircraft. Medium and heavy plate extrusion, free forging, and die forging are all possible applications. Bulkheads and fuselage frames that require a cross-sectional thickness of 2 to 6 inches are common applications for 7050 aluminum sheets. Wing skin is another common application. The majority of applications for this metal are for thicknesses greater than 2 inches, making it an excellent choice.
Other Application
It can also be applied to various molds, fixtures, mechanical equipment and high-end aluminum alloy bicycle frames.
7050 Aluminum Sheet Characteristics
The main alloying element of 7050 series aluminum alloy is zinc. Adding magnesium to the alloy containing 3%-7.5% zinc can form MgZn2 with significant strengthening effect so that the heat treatment effect of the alloy is far better than that of aluminum-zinc binary alloy.
Increasing the zinc and magnesium content in the alloy will further increase the tensile hardness, and its resistance to stress corrosion and exfoliation corrosion will increase accordingly. After heat treatment, it can achieve very high strength characteristics.
The materials of this series generally add a small number of alloys such as copper and chromium. In this series, 7050-7451 aluminum alloy is the top grade, which is known as the best product in aluminum alloys. It has high strength and is far better than mild steel.
This alloy has good mechanical properties and anodic reaction. It is mainly used in aerospace, mold processing, mechanical equipment, fixtures, especially for aircraft manufacturing structures and other high-stress structures that require high strength and strong corrosion resistance.
